Blue Ribbon Prize and Laurel Prize

Every year, JRC awards both Blue Ribbon Prize and Laurel Prize to the rolling stocks which were placed in service during the previous year. Followings are their objectives and selection method.

Blue Ribbon Prize (Established in 1958)

This prize is awarded to the best rolling stock, which the Selection Committee considers to be the best rolling stock in the corresponding year, took into account the result of the vote from regular and family members.

Laurel Prize (Established in 1961)

This prize is awarded to the excellent rolling stock, which the Selection Committee considers being superior next to the Blue Ribbon Prize in the corresponding year, took into account the result of the vote from regular and family members.

 

Selection Committee for Blue Ribbon Prize and Laurel Prize

The committee consists of about ten senior JRC members who have through knowledge on railroad rolling stocks. They determine nominees for both prizes to which next selection step follows.
